Daily Bread
Commercial Kitchen Fit-Out
Prodigy Plumbing Gas & Drainage was engaged to deliver full hydraulic and gas services for Daily Bread’s bakery and café facility at 34D Portage Road, New Lynn. As a high-demand commercial kitchen, the project required robust trade waste, water, and gas systems to support large-scale food production while meeting strict compliance standards.
Client: Daily Bread
Our scope included installation of above-ground wastewater pipework, macerating pump lines, and a new in-ground pump station. We supplied and installed a trade-waste grease trap with galvanised lid, along with multiple Saniflow, Maxisan, and Homa Sanistar pump systems. A full suite of overhead Aquatherm water pipework was completed, alongside new hot and cold Rehau pipe reticulation and compliant backflow prevention.
Gas services included a new main from the existing meter, internal copper press gas lines sized to loading requirements, and specific safety valving linked into fire alarm and ventilation systems. We also installed dual Rheem commercial gas water heaters and provided connections for multiple walk-in ovens, a blast freezer, and other specialist bakery equipment.
Careful coordination was required to stage works alongside other trades and manage penetrations, drainage falls, and tight service routes within the existing building structure. All systems were tested, commissioned, and certified to ensure long-term reliability and resilience for this high-performance hospitality facility.
Daily Bread has become one of Auckland’s most recognisable artisan bakery brands, known for its sourdough and commitment to traditional methods. This project not only expanded their production capacity but also supported the growth of a much-loved local food business that brings people together around quality baking and hospitality.
